Executive Branch

CBS,NBC rejected United Church of Christ ad as "too controversial," despite networks' past airing of advocacy ads

Executive Branch

Constitutional Connection:
there was a commercial that was not aired by CBS and NBC because while bush was in presidency they stated that marriage is something between a man and a woman in this ad was "too controversial" because it promoted gay marriage racial minorities and people with disabilities. The executive branch is saying that marriage should be for a man and a women i also find this to controversial because people should be able to marry whom ever they want. Marriage doesn't have to be about a man and a women marriage is about love and therefore everybody deserves love either if their gay or with disabilities.

Judicial Branch

Obamacalls on Congress to work on Immigration reform
"all bills for raising revenue shall orginate in the house of Representatives but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other bills."
Constitutional Connection: The congress is the branch that makes the bills. Congress should have first worked on the immigration reform and then Obama. Then Obama could have made any changes that can be improved. This article demonstrates Article 1 Section 7 of the constitution. I think that immigrants should have the opportunities like everybody else. I don't know why they are making a big deal out of it. They should let the immigrants move so they can have better chances and so their kids can have better opportunities as well.

The Sixth Amendment

Speedy Trial
" right to speedy trial, confrontation to witnesses, in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."
Constitutional Connection:
This cartoon is about a speedy trial. The judge actually thinks that the trial is going to take a couple of minutes that's why he asks the man why does he keep on objecting. I found this cartoon funny because they make the judge seem like he doesn't know what hes doing. A speedy trial is actually like a regular trial just that the jury is different.

The Tenth Amendment

Child Support Recovery Act Violates Tenth Amendment
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3898/is_200106/ai_n8957874/

" The powers not delegated to the Untied States by the constitution, now prohibited by it to the States are reserved to the Sates respectively, or to the people."

Constitutional Connection:
This is about a Texas resident that failed to make a payment for his kids child support. The man is angered because he says that the Child Support Recovery Act violates the tenth amendment by exceeding congress's power to regulate interstate commerce. The government has to understand that if the man doesn't have enough money to make the child support payment they shouldn't indicted him. If i was in this position i would have been very frustrated as well because one is getting into trouble because they can barely support themselves financially and they have to support others as well. I think that if you cant be able to pay child support and take the responsibility then why would you be doing things if your not gonna do the consequences.

Second Amendment

The Right to Bear Arms
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed"

Constitutional Connection:
This cartoon talks about how each family should have a specific gun for specific purposes. It seems to me that the guns seem to get bigger by the different situation. Yes they should be allowed to have some gun but they should have restrictions on how many and when is the right time to use them. This cartoon makes the viewers think that it is okay to use guns for any excuse. Which isn't okay, i personally think that guns should be banned this way the environment would be safer. They should have stricter laws on guns.

The Eighth Amendment

Lethal Injection caused slow death
"Excessive Bail shall not be required, nor excessive finez imposed, nor cruel and unsual punishments be inflicted.
Constitutional Connection:
Angel Nieves Diaz from Ohio, was given twice a dose of injected chemicals which was said to cause severe pain slowly. This violates the constitution because lethal injection is a way of cruel and unusual punishment. The lethal injections wasnt the only thing that was given to Diaz. He was also given three pills. One that deaden pain the other to paralyze the body and give him a heart attack.
I think that this is a very cruel way on punishing some one. Yes he did kill someone but he was already paying for the consequences in jail. They didnt really have to send him to the death penalty. They could of just let him rot in jail. They actually made him suffer more than once. If i was in his possition i'd rather be killed faster than slower because dying quick you feel only one pain but as in dying slowly it hurts more.

Fifth Amendment

"no person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand jury, except in cases arising in the land of naval forces, or the Militia, when in actualy service in time of war or public danger, nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeoprady of life ot lib;nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."
Constitutional connection:
This cartoon is about a jury that is asking question to Mrs. Bobbitt. They don't even look interested or serious. Half of them are smiling or giving a attitude face saying they don't even wanna be there. This cartoon is violation Mrs. Bobbitt authority. She was being questioned on why is she in court. This violates her privacy because she is putting her business out there to people she doesn't even know and aren't taking her case seriously.

The Fourth Amendment

Fourth Amendment Violation

Constitutional Connection:
The fourth amendment, search and seizure "the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches ans seizures, shall not be violated and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath pr affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized.

Nicholas George was arrested at the Philadelphia Airport due to the finding of Arabic flashcards found on him. This violated his fourth amendment because the airport sreener didn't have a warrant and he was being searched for no reason. He was arrested and then detained for five hours while his luggage was being searched. Nicholas

In my opinion i think that the airports systems are getting stricter due to the terrorist attack on 9/11. Airports security systems are affecting middle eastern people and other people based upon their appereance. I think that the aiports are taking things way out of porporstion. Theres one thing on being aware and another thing on taking things to the extreme. All these random searches are causing plans delay which sooner or later people are going to start getting annoyed. As a stundent that takes arabic in our school i found this very shocking what one flashcard can cause all this trouble in an airport. As for the airports i think they should get less strict but this doesnt mean they shouldnt care they should just be aware and keep a look out on things that they find really threating not some silly FLASHCARD!
