The Fourth Amendment

Fourth Amendment Violation

Constitutional Connection:
The fourth amendment, search and seizure "the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches ans seizures, shall not be violated and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath pr affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized.

Nicholas George was arrested at the Philadelphia Airport due to the finding of Arabic flashcards found on him. This violated his fourth amendment because the airport sreener didn't have a warrant and he was being searched for no reason. He was arrested and then detained for five hours while his luggage was being searched. Nicholas

In my opinion i think that the airports systems are getting stricter due to the terrorist attack on 9/11. Airports security systems are affecting middle eastern people and other people based upon their appereance. I think that the aiports are taking things way out of porporstion. Theres one thing on being aware and another thing on taking things to the extreme. All these random searches are causing plans delay which sooner or later people are going to start getting annoyed. As a stundent that takes arabic in our school i found this very shocking what one flashcard can cause all this trouble in an airport. As for the airports i think they should get less strict but this doesnt mean they shouldnt care they should just be aware and keep a look out on things that they find really threating not some silly FLASHCARD!
